When Laura made this tea for our Bliss of Being meditation dinner event a couple of months back, I had to make it for myself and in due course asked Laura if I could share it with you all.

'Vata' is one of the three Ayurvedic 'Doshas' (Vata, Pitta, Kapha). As individuals we tend towards one or sometimes two Dosha types, and so too, each season carries its own Dosha. With its drying, blustery conditions, Winter is classified as a Vata season. If you are feeling agitated, ungrounded, cold and dry, this tea is great to balance, ground and warm you up. It’s fantastic to drink in autumn and winter, less so in summer.

So with that, this tea will help counteract the effects of Winter. It's easy to make and is super economical! I bought all ingredients from The Staple Store in Ripponlea, but most Source Bulkfoods stores should have these ingredients.

WHAT YOU NEED

In a bowl, blend the following:

> 1/2 cup dried ginger kibbles
> 1/2 cup licorice root
> 1/2 cup cardamom pods
...all slightly crushed in mortar and pestle
> 4 cinnamon sticks
...crushed in mortar and pestle

Keep in and airtight jar!

WHAT TO DO

To make tea, use 1-2 teaspoons of Vata Tea and steep in a cup of hot water. I like to make this in a big thermos and sip throughout the day. The tea gets stronger the longer it sits and tastes even more delicious.
